Do you get many "link requests" from people? I get quite a few, here's an example of the most recent one. So what's going on in this email :-
- It's from "Rachael". Do I know her, know, am I more likely to agree to their request as it appears to have come from a real person? Maybe.
- Clearly they have identified ITIL as the keyphrase for which they want to be found.
- They've tried to make it easy for me by giving me the text they would liked used.
They also say that they are happy to link to my site "in return". But notice, they are not offering a link from the site to which I am linking (still with me?). If two sites link to each other, there's a good chance that in future Google might ignore the "value" of these links as it thinks you are trying to scam it. So by linking to me from another site it works something like this (I suspect) :-
Pixel Crayon -> Conscious -> Casewise
It's a way of everyone "winning" (supposedly). Only time will tell if Google catch on to this and change their algorithm as a result.
