Summary of the Role
Your role will be to write engaging, SEO-optimised and informative website and blog content for a range of clients across all areas of the law.
The copywriting team produces over 100 pages of content per month to support SEO projects, or stand-alone website projects. You will work in a growing copywriting team made up of a Junior Copywriter, a Copywriter and a Content Marketing Lead.
Main Responsibilities
The following is a list of the main tasks this job role will handle, but is by no means an exhaustive list and may be varied from time to time:-
- Writing SEO content for clients, including
- Briefing calls with clients to determine tone of voice, purpose, style and length of pages as well as unique company values
- Service page content across all legal services, and of varying length
- Locally targeted SEO pages including content silos/contact pages with appropriate calls to action
- Topical blog posts
- Researching relevant evergreen/newsworthy topics based on the SEO team’s requirements
- Ensuring all pages are written, proofed and sent to the client in a timely manner
- Undertaking keyword research (using tools such as Ahrefs) and writing content specs
- Copywriting for web projects
- Copywriting for service pages, home pages, about us and staff profiles
- Working with clients, account managers, project managers and other members of the wider Conscious team to provide additional copywriting services as required
- Ensuring a steady pace is kept with the delivery of content to the client by getting copy proofed and sent quickly and efficiently
- Proofing and amending of content
- Sharing the proofing responsibility across the team to ensure content produced is carefully and quickly proofed
- Amending content in line with client feedback
- Following the process to ensure proofed content gets passed to the relevant people to send to the client for approval
- Writing unique and engaging content each and every time, even for more ‘common’ services
- Reflecting an understanding of the client’s objectives through the copy written
- Understanding our clients’ target markets, what their prospective clients need and tailoring content to effectively match that need
- Balancing effective SEO practices with writing content that offers a positive user experience
- Incorporating appropriate calls to action within the copy
- Building and maintaining a relationship with our clients
- Managing your workload, keeping track of work requests and ensuring deadlines are met
- Additional projects as required
Required Skills
Applicants must have the following experience:-
- Experience of writing copy for web, ideally within the professional services sector.
- The ability to turn even the most technical and dry of subject matters into dynamic, engaging content
- SEO understanding in terms of writing copy for the web
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills
- Comfortable recieiving and giving constructive criticism in a positive, considerate manner
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, being happy dealing with people face-to-face, on the phone and through video conferencing
- Confidence in talking to clients in detail about their business and requirements
- Commercial awareness, including the ability to write to deadlines and keep to time allowances
- Good keyboard and IT skills
- Must be familiar with Mac (preferably) or MS Windows operating systems and MS Office/Email/Internet
- Excellent organisational, project and time-management skills, managing multiple projects
- Ability to multi-task and take ownership of your projects
- Self motivation and a strong desire to learn
- Passionate about good writing
Desirable Skills
Experience with/of the following is desirable:-
- Working in and/or writing for the legal sector
- Using a suite of SEO tools, including Google Analytics and Ahrefs
- Experience of best practice in web marketing and copy; although this role does not necessitate detailed web technology skills, we expect basic CMS skills
- Experience of SEO, PPC and Social Media
Salary & Benefits
- Dependent on experience but expected to be in the range of £22,000 - £26,000

Location
- Hybrid working with an office base in Royal London Buildings, 42-46 Baldwin Street, Bristol, BS1 1PN or another office in central Bristol should we ever move.
Hours of Work
- Monday to Friday
- 37.5 hours per week
- 9.00am to 5.30pm (unless otherwise agreed)
