Summer has come to an end, and one thing is on every legal marketer’s mind: the legal events season.
With the opportunity to boost your law firm’s brand awareness, implement business development strategies, and reignite any leads that may have fizzled out, events are a great way to get your firm ‘out there’.
Known for our zesty wardrobes, innovative keynote sessions, interactive stands, and not forgetting our loveable orange dogs, Conscious always makes the most out of every event we attend.

Here’s our guide to the legal events season, with top tips on how to make the most out of this time of year for your law firm.
Know your Purpose for Attending
Once you’ve signed up to an event, first and foremost, you’ve got to do your research.
Decide who from your firm is best placed to attend the event and ensure they understand the purpose of their attendance.
Whether they’re delivering a thought leadership keynote session or attending to gain a better understanding of the legal landscape and network, it’s essential to outline some clear aims and objectives.
Identify the Guest List
Once you know why you’re attending, then you need to focus on who you’ll be meeting.
Researching the event organisers and fellow attendees not only helps with your overall preparation but also allows you to brainstorm conversation topics and ‘door-opener’ conversation starters. Plus, if you’re a bit apprehensive about attending events, knowing and connecting with the guest list ahead of time should help ease any nerves. Compose a brief LinkedIn message to any contacts you know who are attending to arrange a meeting if this puts you at ease.
If you’re unsure who’s attending, contact the event organiser to see if they can provide you with a delegate or company list.
Be your Brand
As mentioned in the introduction, the Conscious team are easy to spot at most events as we’ll likely be head-to-toe in our brand colour, orange. This association has meant that sometimes we don’t even need to introduce ourselves before people make the assumption that we’re from Conscious.
Having a strong brand identity for your law firm is incredibly important. You can find out more about how to achieve this in our other post. When it comes to events, it’s essential to actively represent your brand as authentically as possible.
Not only will this help other people recognise you and your firm, but being an obvious brand representative will likely give you extra confidence when networking, knowing that the affiliation is clear.
It’s not only about aesthetics. Making sure you’re having purpose-led conversations that actively reflect the ethos of your law firm is all part of representing your brand at events.
Whilst being your brand, you must remember to also be yourself. If you want to make meaningful connections and feel most at ease at events, authenticity is key.
For example, I will be seen wearing orange at any event I attend, but nicely paired with my signature jewellery that I wear every day without fail!
Focus on Following Up
Following up with the people you met at an event is just as important as the conversations you had on the day.
Whether it’s sending a personalised email, connecting on LinkedIn with a thoughtful message, or sharing an article that relates to your previous discussion, these small actions help turn introductions into meaningful professional relationships.
Even a more generic post about the event itself on social media is a great way to open the floor to new connections and remind people of your attendance.
Finally, don’t forget that follow-up isn’t just about potential clients. Reconnecting with peers, event organisers, or even competitors can add real value to your network and open up collaboration opportunities down the line.
