Marketing Executive

We are looking for someone to join the marketing team at Conscious, as a Marketing Executive!

46% of our team have been with the business for 5 years, and 24% have been with the company for 10 years or more, so if that doesn’t show you how much people enjoy working at Conscious, then I don’t know what does.

We truly care about the growth and development of our team and are looking for an individual who embodies all of our values. Generous, transparent, inquisitive, collaborative, and empowering. One of our clients aptly named our values G&T over ICE!

Why Would You Want to Work for Conscious?

Of course, you are interviewing us as much as we are interviewing you. So, here’s the boring (but very important) stuff you get in return as a member of the Conscious team:

  • Salary dependent on experience but expected to be in the range of £24,750-£26,750
  • 25 days holiday + Celebration Day + 8 bank holidays
  • Contributory Pension (3% from Conscious, 5% from you)
  • Healthcare insurance, life insurance and critical illness protection (all after probation has been passed), including optical and dental cashback plans
  • Flexible working up to 3 days per week (we believe work is a thing you do, not a place you go). However, there are busy events periods where you might be expected to travel for work, or be in the office more often.
  • 2 paid days charity work allowance per year
  • MVP recognition programme with rewards and the Conscious Hero annual award
  • Long service rewards and recognition
  • A staff referral scheme allowing you to earn up to £1,000 for recommending a friend
  • CycleToWork and Techscheme schemes in place
  • Dog-friendly office
  • 3-month probationary period

In addition, you’ll work with a creative, welcoming, and friendly team in a fantastic, shared office space in Central Bristol, with multiple socialising and fundraising opportunities organised throughout the year by our FUN-raising Team. You’ll also have the support of our Wellbeing Team.

About Us

As the market leader in our sector, we have over 350 clients across the UK and internationally. We are on a growth journey with a track record of developing our employees and promoting from within.

The marketing team is responsible for managing and implementing all aspects of Conscious branding and values, from the website and email marketing to social media, events, and direct mail campaigns.

No two days are the same in the marketing team – one day, you might be packaging 300 orange chocolate parcels for our clients, another day you’ll be carrying out keyword research and writing blogs for the website, and the next you might be recording videos and podcast episodes.

About You

You’ll have impeccable attention to detail. Our emails, website, printed marketing and everything we do must be grammatically correct. Although we all make mistakes, our marketing needs to be double, and triple checked before it goes out to make sure it’s all on brand.

We use a CRM system called SuiteCRM and it will be daunting at first, but we’re looking for someone willing to learn. Many of our campaigns rely on this system, and it will become your best friend.

You need to understand that good marketing relies on great data. A lot of the job requires spending large chunks of time cleaning data, creating spreadsheets, updating our CRM system, and cross-checking data. I like to chuck on a podcast while I’m doing this or a good playlist (it’s not mandatory to like Taylor Swift, but she’s played in the office a lot!)

We want someone who is creative and can think outside the box. While you will have set daily, monthly and quarterly tasks, we are always looking to try new things. We want someone passionate and who will join a meeting with ideas we haven’t explored before.

Having gender balance as a team is important. We work hard at balance in all its guises, but this one in particular.

Day-to-Day Tasks

Some of the tasks you will be expected to take ownership of include:-

  • Managing our social media accounts. You will be responsible for creating a monthly content calendar, creating graphics and captions for all posts throughout the month, filming and editing videos of the team and repurposing content, getting sign-off and scheduling these posts.
  • Sending out monthly email newsletters via Mailchimp to relevant audiences.
  • Sending out emails using our CRM system.
  • Supporting and managing marketing campaigns from start to finish - this might be an email marketing campaign, direct mail campaign or a campaign via our website.
  • Ensuring all Conscious internal and external documents, images and marketing materials follow brand guidelines.
  • Sending out a bi-weekly internal newsletter to the team.
  • Keeping our events calendar up to date with relevant legal sector events, conferences, exhibitions and social media awareness days.
  • Staying up to date with industry trends and creating relevant content. This could be through social media posts, writing blog posts for the website, conducting keyword research, or writing thought leadership pieces on LinkedIn.

Required Skills

The successful candidate will have the following experience:-

  • A minimum of 3 years marketing experience (there’s no leeway on this!) or a degree-level marketing qualification and one year’s experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in social media, email marketing and website content
  • The ability to manage your workload and ensure it’s delivered correctly and on time
  • Excellent organisational, project and time-management skills, managing multiple projects
  • Excellent attention to detail, especially when following repetitive processes
  • Self-motivation and a strong desire to learn
  • Experience creating videos, Instagram Reels, TikToks, podcast episodes, webinars and more. We might be a marketing agency that works with law firms, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get creative. We don’t currently use TikTok, but we have dabbled in Insta Reels, and we’re looking for someone who can tell us what’s trending and how we can get involved. We seek someone to create monthly videos and repurpose our content in new ways.
  • Experience with a typical marketing tech e.g. Mailchimp, Sendible & Canva.

Don’t meet every single requirement?

Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single qualification. We are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.  This view aligns with two of our values, which are to be empowering to members of our team and to collaborate with them to ensure they can excel in their role.

We work hard to retain our staff and if we cannot, then you join a network of alumni of whom we are very proud.

At 5 years you get a one-off extra week off, at 10 years it's a one-off two weeks.

Location

  • Hybrid working (you must be in the office at least 2 days per week) with an office base in Runway East, 1 Victoria Street, Redcliffe, Bristol, BS1 6AA, or another office in central Bristol, should we ever move.

Hours of Work

  • Monday to Friday
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • 9.00am to 5.30pm (unless otherwise agreed)
