Linux Systems Administrator

Primary Role

This role is for a Linux/Unix Systems Administrator, working in the technical team of a marketing agency.  You will be supporting our systems and the federated cloud environment that hosts them.  You will also be helping to support the rest of the company, who use Apple hardware and macOS.  Microsoft Windows skills are not required as we don't use it.

About You

You are an experienced Linux/Unix systems administrator with knowledge of networks (e.g. Firewalls, DNS, VPNs), email systems, file services (NFS, WebDAV) and life in a virtual world based on KVM or similar technologies.  You have real familiarity with the command line, shell scripting and automation tools (e.g. Ansible).

You will be familiar with working in the FOSS (free/open-source software) ecosphere.  Maybe you have a real passion for it or wish you could work with it more.

You will also inevitably have some knowledge of VoIP phone systems and video conferencing in a post-COVID world.

Responsibilities

Maintenance and development of our server and network infrastructure, working in a small technical team and answering directly to the Technical Director.  You will also support the development staff, assisting with their website build infrastructure.  Some support work with other less technical members of staff.

What our team say

Having a flexible employer means that if I ever need extra time to get something done, I know I can fit it in and make the time up later. Whether it’s a dentist appointment, a driving lesson or I need time to trawl around Bristol to buy a present for someone, I don’t have to stress about squeezing it in before or after work or at the weekends. I also get to work from home whenever I want which makes balancing my home life a lot easier (and I don’t have to pay for a dog walker!)
